The Wolf Tells All...
I was surprised to find these little huts in the paddock. The farmer has always made shelters for the pigs but they are usually made of iron and four by twos.
I thought the first one was just a small haystack until I got closer and got a clear whiff of piglet. I would have sneaked up on him but for my darned hayfever. My sneezes blew straw in all directions and there was a shivering little pig. I know I wasn't being a good sport but I bagged him before he could move.
Feeling pretty good I strolled up to the second hut, a sort of lean-to made of branches. It must have been privet, I sneezed again, four times in all. Well, pigs are not builders. You can tell their trotters are not meant for using tools. By the third sneeze the whole thing had fallen apart and the fourth blew the little porker upside-down. I popped him in the bag with his mate.
I should have stopped there, but I came to a third hut. This one was made of bricks, taken from where the farmer was building a wall. I would have walked past but I was still sneezing from the privet and the third cheeky pig started laughing at me. He had seen what had happened to the others and thought I was trying to blow his house down. Of course, I could tell the bricks were too heavy for that, I'm not silly. The pig inside was so rude to me, I was getting really mad so I tried to climb in the top.
My nose was too blocked from hayfever for me to smell the fire. I got a fright when my tail started to burn, I can tell you. I was out of there like a cork from a bottle and ran all the way to the river to put out the fire. Did it sting!
By the time I came back the two pigs I had caught had got out of the bag and were safely inside the brick hut. So I lost the lot and would go hungry tonight had I not met a dear little girl with a basket. I'm just on my way to her Gran's house now...
